From Drawing To Machine: The Engineering Behind A Build

How mechanical design, CNC machining, waterjet cutting, assembly and electrical controls connect within a CPS equipment project in Galway.

Keep Design Connected To Manufacture

A drawing describes geometry, but a machine also needs a practical build and assembly sequence. Material choice, tolerances, component availability and access for tools can affect both manufacture and later maintenance.

At CPS, mechanical and electrical design connect with in-house manufacturing and machine build capabilities. This supports discussion of how an idea will become a working assembly.

CNC Machining And Waterjet Cutting In Galway

Waterjet cutting can be considered for profiles and component blanks. The suitability depends on the material, thickness, required features and final condition. CNC machining can produce components for tooling, fixtures and equipment assemblies.

A drawing review should identify the important dimensions and functional surfaces. Any subsequent machining, finishing or inspection requirements should be agreed before production.

Plan Assembly And Integration

Component preparation and fabrication feed into mechanical build and assembly. Consider the order in which items are fitted, the adjustments needed during commissioning and the access required for replacement.

Electrical build and controls integration connect the machine mechanisms, sensors and wider process. A coordinated design helps clarify the interfaces between mechanical and electrical work.

Use Early Trials Where The Process Is Uncertain

Proof-of-principle and feasibility work can help evaluate an unproven handling or processing step. Agree the trial objective and the samples needed before starting.

The findings should inform the equipment specification. A successful trial establishes evidence for the tested conditions, rather than an unrestricted promise of future performance.

Discuss The Right Project Scope

CPS operates from Tuam, Co. Galway, with in-house capabilities supporting equipment projects. For a machining, cutting or design enquiry, share drawings, materials, quantities and the function of the parts.

The team can confirm the available service, scope and deliverables. Whether the requirement is a component within a machine build or a wider engineering project should be clear from the outset.
